How to win him over – in one meal

brooke-lark-158019-2

Krissey believes in breakfast. She calls it the most seductive meal of the day.

She heartily believes the way to man’s heart is through good wine, great food, and song and and not only can she both cook and sing (not concurrently -unless requested) she also has a wine cellar of some renown.  Breakfast  – the best meal of the day- is her strong suit.

She and Stanley had been dating for two years and she thought she had an almost-on- the-brink of a marriage proposal. They had spent a romantic weekend at Pebble Beach- enjoyed golf, wine-tasting, long walks on the beach, and something she calls a smoochathon. He showered her with compliments and agreed it was the most romantic weekend ever.

Krissey invited Stanley over for a special breakfast the next day. Over tall glasses of Champagne, Eggs Benedict and 24-hour prepped bacon, Stanley continued his romantic quips and kisses. He admitted to be seduced-by her cooking- everything she prepared was exquisite.

Krissey is too much of a lady to provide many details, however, she brags that after her piece d’ resistance breakfast, Stanley proposed and suggested a trip downtown to the jeweler. And so it begins.

You better watch out …You better not cry… 2018 is upon us

Most will agree, the last year has been spooky, disheartening, shocking and darn right scary.

What does one do in these dire circumstances? Do the Great Escape and leave town?

Or have yourself a cozy little gathering with like minded individuals?

First, make yourself a reputation for being a creative genius. Second, surround yourself with partners who are better than you are. Third, leave them to go get on with it.

If you think Breaking Up is hard to do…

Mallory loved Kevin. He was everything she had been looking for her “whole life.”

They had been hot and heavy for an entire year when the ruse was off the bloom – in a matter of speaking.

Mallory had been on her best girfriend behavior the whole time. She was the perfect girlfriend and worked on it. Meanwhile, Kevin was comfortable with her, enjoyed her -for the time being. She had no idea he was so cavalier. She assumed they were both on the same page.

They had attended three  weddings together and each time Mallory imagined herself the bride. She had been building a “My Wedding”  scrapbook since high school. She knew exactly who would attend, what she would wear, when it would take place (Winter) where (her parent’s country club.)

She and Kevin were so blissfully  comfortable together -they were just a perfect couple- so she thought.

golden-bangle-uprightOn Christmas, she really expected The Ring to be under the tree, or in her stocking or  in his hand when he was on one knee. It didn’t happen. As a matter of fact, Kevin flew to his parents home for Christmas made plans to return for New Year’s Eve.

This was disturbing for Mallory. Her friends chimed in and commented this was odd behavior and her parents inquired as to Kevin’s disappearance.

Denial 101: Mallory had mastered the art of denial early on. She very easily made excuses about Kevin’s disappearance. It was nothing. He hadn’t seen his parents in ages – this was necessary.

When Kevin returned from his trip, he called Mallory and said the most dreaded four words: “We need to talk.”

What Not to Wear this Christmas

Can’t decide whether to wear sequins and silk or torn jeans?

Always err on the side of dressed up – skip the costumes, funny hats and styles your kids wear.

Famed designer, Edith Head said it best: “Your dresses should be tight enough to show you’re a woman and loose enough to show you’re a lady.”

The decisions you make are a choice of values that reflect your life in every way.

Never thought he would get a date

30-socially-awkward-w710-h473

Bobby Gelitti thought he was God’s gift to girls. He was the quarterback on the football team and he was the captain of the tennis team. Nevermind that that the school student body tipped the scales at 150 students.

The kids who left Smalltown USA disparaged the town by calling it “Hicksville.” The kids who lived there were proud of their special school. Bobby was a Big Man on campus.

After graduation – he started at the local junior college and discovered he was just another kid. The junior college had hundreds of students  from six different schools and they were bigger, faster, better athletes than him. He avoided sports and decided to “major in girls.” All the girls from his school were on Cloud 9 at the JC – there were so many cool classes and cute boys. The guys from high school were old hat.

Bobby had quite an adjustment. School was academically very hard, sports were a no-go and the ‘older guys’ (sophomores) got all ‘the babes.’

In November, a cute girl finally paid attention to him, which was cool – but, it turned out she was engaged to a guy at the university. Depressed, he threw himself into his classes and studied more than ever before. His report card was a sea of B’s – something he had never seen before. His teachers were encouraging. His confidence increased as his classes became easier and more interesting.

Posters for the upcoming Christmas Dance  lined the halls. The girls were all talking about the big dance. It was a Date Dance – not stag dance.  Feeling pretty good, Bobby asked a girl in  English Literature if she was going – yes, she was -with her boyfriend. He ended up asking three other ‘cute girls’ and they all had dates. No way would ask anyone from high school.

After his run of rejections, he was chatting with a classmate about homework and one last, final time he asked if she was going to the dance. A miracle! She was available. He finally had a college girl say ‘yes’ to him. Mr once Big Man on campus was still small time – but, he had a date! Happy holidays.

Miraculous

Honestly, making a point?

school-93200__340

Sven was her idea of a Norse god. He was a big, blond, hunk of a man who, when he wrapped her in a hug, made her like-a-woman….-w-o-m-a-n!

While he was usually unemployed, and often “a wee bit short on funds” he had a secret gig. After one glass of Silver Patron on the rocks with a twist, too many, he revealed his acting career with a local Personal Injury attorney in Los Gatos.

Hit and Run to the Bank?

The two men had cooked up a clever scheme where – on cue – Sven walked across a busy street, head down, reading Proust, and would  “walk” into an upscale car in a crosswalk. He bragged his Academy Award Performance evolved into a “You ran over my foot!” (expletives flying.)

As fate would have it, his so called” silent partner” would be crossing the street and was a witness. Timing.

She was initially impressesd with the drama, the scheme and the great gobs of cash Sven eneded up with each month. Sven bragged he even tutored his little sister in the ‘scheme.’  Perisa, with a neck covered in tats, neon purple hair,  and a partially shaved skull was even more dramatic than her older brother. He took a cut from her action and was doing quite well.sixty_yrs_old_2

Sven toppled from upon high as she ascertained what a real crook he was and she ditched the dude. She couldn’t relate to his lack of ethics and cavalier crook modus operandi. Next!
